The tree lined area near Ground Zero looks deceptively peaceful... until the empty windows partially covered with wood in the background catch your attention. The area was closed to all traffic except residents and rescue workers. The subway entrances led to piles of rubble where the trains has run. One miracle in the chaos was that there were no casulties on the subways running beneath the Towers. The transit workers responsible for evacuating the subways were later honored for their bravery.
