    Skiing in the Catskills -
    Belleayre Mountain

Skiing in the Catskills - Belleayre MountainDon't feel bad for skiers in New York City.

While you don't get much good powder on the concrete, there are some great opportunities within a short distance from the city.

One of the closest - Belleayre Mountain, the Catskills most improved snow park, is off to another standout season!

The park is owned and operated by the State of New York, Department of Environmental Conservation.

Tamed wilderness surrounds you as you glide through the Forest Preserve - a perfect example of environmentally friendly land use and conservation.

It is hard to believe that this pristine forest is only a short trip from a major metropolitan area, but it is.

The park is approximately 2.5 hrs from New York City by car. Just take the NYS Thruway(I-87) to exit 19-Kingston, NY, then Rt. 28 West to Highmount. An Adirondack Trailways Ski Bus from the Port Authority is only $61 for the round trip and includes the lift ticket! For other directions see the park's home site.

Skiing in the Catskills - Belleayre MountainIt's a great time to hit the slopes and get that body in shape! Most of the trails are rated as intermediate, but there are some beginner areas and the higher mountain regions offer a few challenges for the advanced skier. Trails are open from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. If you need help there are lessons and a ski school.

The park is family oriented with many children's activities. Snowboarding is part of the fun. Tubing and cross-country skiing are available for anyone who isn't interested in downhill. Snowboarding is allowed. There's even a skiing team.

The weather prediction is promising and the outlook is ideal for the excellent conditions to continue. With daily snow blowing and Mother Nature's help, prospects for a wide open mountain this season are very favorable.

Ski for Free on Your Birthday
The park offers birthday specials as well as reduced prices on special event's days... couple's day, skier's appreciation day, teacher's day, firefighter's day, union day and military day are just some of the events to take advantage of. The park has thought of you if your birthday doesn't fall during skiing season... they have alternate dates for off season birthdays!
