Waldorf Salad
It
was an instant success when noted chef, Oscar Techirky,
better known as "Oscar of the Waldorf" introduced
this salad at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in 1896:
Ingredients:

2 large red apples |
1/2 cup chopped walnuts |
|
1 tbsp. lemon juice |
1/3 cup mayonnaise |
|
1 cup diced celery |
Iceburg or Bibb lettuce leaves |
How to Make It:
1. Peel and core apples and cut into slivers.
Sprinkle with lemon juice
2. Mix the celery and walnuts with mayonnaise,
add apples and toss well.
3. Chill. Serve on lettuce.
Serves 4.
