Riding in NYC

Time
was when New York City was nothing but horses dutifully
pulling delivery carts, cablecars (and the first taxi
cabs), along with elegant
coaches of the rich and well-to-do on Fifth Avenue
Today,
the city still offers a handful of really good horseback
riding centers around the five boroughs.
Correction:
that has been whittled down to the four boroughs,
with the closing of Manhattan's Claremont
Riding Academy when, after 115 years of operation
on the Upper West Side, NYC had to bid farewell to the
last remaining horse stable on the island ...
Otherwise,
the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island still provide
a day of fun with lessons, well-cared for horses and trails.
