New
York Cocktails ->
Martini
As the story goes, this now-classic
New York cocktail was simply known by bartenders at the
old Fifth Avenue Hotel as "one of Mr. Martinez' drinks"
for Alejandro Martinez, local bon vivant and man-about-town.
Despite Martinez' later efforts
to disavow any connection with the drink (a true gentlemen
would turn his nose up at gin) the name stuck ....
Ingredients:
3 ounces dry gin |
1 ounce dry vermouth |
How to Make It:
Fill a large mixing glass with
ice.
Add gin and dry vermouth, and
stir vigourously.
Strain into a cocktail glass
and garnish with olives or lemon twist.
