New York Cocktail
Although there's little evidence
for its pedigree, the New York cocktail was probably part
of a Prohibition-age craze to doctor homemade concoctions
of rye, gin & bourbon to make them seem more palatable,
or served simply as a sweet "ladies drink".
Either way, this syrupy mix
of rye, sugar and grendadine is pretty to look at, but not
often awarded four stars for drinkability...
Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces rye |
1 dash grenadine |
1/2 tsp. powdered sugar |
Juice of half a lime |
How to Make It:
Fill a large mixing glass with
ice.
Add all ingredients, stir vigourously
and strain into a cocktail glass. Add a twist of orange.
